With nine years of experience in sports and athletics-focused environments, coupled with a commitment to community leadership, Morgan Newton is a dedicated professional who has recently obtained her MBA degree at Morgan State University while serving as the Director of Campus Recreation at Coppin State University.
Morgan possesses a versatile skill set acquired throughout her professional journey, including sports management, project oversight, team leadership, graphic design, social media management, business administration, content creation, and exceptional customer service. She has also developed strong soft skills in communication, empathy, conflict resolution, and public speaking.
Selected to Cohort V of the Hennessy Fellowship Program, Morgan demonstrates recognized leadership potential and a commitment to community development. This prestigious fellowship has provided invaluable opportunities to refine skills and expand her professional network.
Morgan's career began with managing the women's basketball program at the University of Maryland, where she contributed to practice, game-day, and travel operations. Morgan gained further experience through internships in Media Relations at both the University of Maryland and Virginia Commonwealth University, managing social media campaigns, engaging in graphic design projects, and crafting feature stories for game-day programs.
As the Coordinator of Competitive Sports at Coppin State University, Morgan achieved significant milestones, including the historic recruitment of 30 student employees and a remarkable 100% increase in student engagement over two semesters through innovative programming and marketing initiatives. She also revitalized the NCFA collegiate club football team during her tenure as Interim Manager of Campus Recreation, fostering an enriched program culture.
In her current role as Director of Campus Recreation & Wellness, Morgan successfully managed a complex $500,000 fitness center remodeling project, demonstrating her ability to establish and implement strategic objectives.
Driven by a profound appreciation for art, music, culture, food, and sports, Morgan aspires to lead an organization's or player's foundation, leveraging the transformative power of sports to drive positive change within communities.
