Biography

Charlotte M. Wood, PhD, MBA, MSN, RN is a Full Professor at Coppin State University, College of Health Professions, Helene Fuld School of Nursing. Received her BSN (1982) from Delaware State University, her MSN/MBA from Johns Hopkins University (2003) and completed her PhD from Capella University (2014). 

She has practiced nursing in a variety of settings, including: The infamous R A Cowley Shock Trauma Center at the University of Maryland in Baltimore; emergency first aid for the Baltimore Ravens and the Baltimore Orioles, University of Maryland Mid-town Campus, St. Agnes Hospital, and in the private sector as a National Director for Nursing with Nationwide Better Health.

She is currently the President of the Maryland Nurses Association (MNA, 2019-2021), and the President of the Faculty Senate (2017-2020) at Coppin State University. She has just received the MNA  2020 Outstanding Leadership Award and the 2020 University System of Maryland Board of Regents Faculty Excellence Award for Public Service. She is currently working with several communities to address COVID-19. Dr. Charlotte M. Wood has been instrumental in educating and promoting the professional needs of nurses through her work with her National and State Senators and representatives. On Oct. 2, 2020, she received the Maryland Nurses Association 2020 Outstanding Leadership Award.
