Dr. Karen Santos Rogers serves as Chair of the Teaching and Learning Department at Coppin State University. She earned her Ph.D. from the University of Virginia and her MA and BA from Virginia Tech. She has been a professional educator for 24 years and has taught courses in literacy, foundations of American education, technical and professional writing, composition, grammar, linguistics, and elementary teaching methods. Dr. Rogers holds a Virginia teaching license and has supervised students in various classroom placements state-wide. She has served as Secretary for PDK (Phi Delta Kappa) – Rockingham Chapter and held an elected position on the VCEE (Virginia Conference on English Education) board for five years, including Chair, Vice Chair, and Secretary. Her research interests include literacy pedagogy, teacher preparation, and instructional technology use in the classroom.
