Anita Weisburger PhD
Dr. Anita Weisburger, Assistant Professor of Early Childhood Education, brings to Coppin State more than 25 years of professional and faculty experience within higher education, K-12, educational consulting, and non-profit development. She has worked with students across all populations and at many points along the education pipeline. Dr. Weisburger has experience developing and teaching undergraduate and graduate courses, providing academic advising and coaching, building student support programs, and writing curricula. She has a Bachelor of Music degree from California State University, Northridge, a Master of Arts in International Education from The George Washington University in Washington, DC and received a PhD in Curriculum and Instruction with a focus on Early Childhood Teacher Education from the University of Maryland, College Park. Her research has focused on gathering the student perspective of community college early childhood teacher education students during their first two years of preservice training as well as after transfer to complete certification. Other areas of interest are qualitative research to elicit student perspectives on diversity in early childhood education and the study of the preparation of early childhood and elementary educators in the area of arts integration.
