State of Maryland Benefits Open Enrollment
Open Enrollment is an annual opportunity for benefit-eligible employees to change their benefit plan, update coverage, and/or enroll in a health care or dependent care flexible spending account (FSA). All changes and corresponding payroll deductions will begin on January 1, 2020.
New this year, benefit elections will be managed online using SPS Workday. Via Workday, employees will be able to:
- Enroll for the first time, change plans, or change coverage levels.
- Participate in a Flexible Spending Account (FSA). The IRS requires all flexible spending account participants to re-enroll in these plans every year.
Employees who do not want to change their benefit elections or contribute to a health care/dependent care flexible spending account (FSA), do not need to take any action. Current benefit coverage, except FSAs, will automatically rollover into the new plan year.
