Dr. Irma E. Johnson is an Assistant Professor for Educational Leadership at Coppin State University with 45 years' experience in educational leadership, professional development, curriculum mapping, teacher development and instructional strategic planning. Prior to joining the faculty at Coppin State University, Dr. Johnson spent 40+ years in the Baltimore City Public Schools System as a teacher, department head, assistant principal, principal, and executive director for K-8 schools. As a member of the Baltimore City Public School System, Dr. Johnson offered a wide range of services in elementary and middle school program development, improving teacher practices and the development of urban school leaders. Dr. Johnson specializes in helping novice principals to create systems and structures to reach goals, problem solve, and data-based decision-making. After a successful career in P-12 public education, Dr. Johnson now coaches new principals to achieve the same success in school administration. Furthermore, she teaches courses in educational leadership and advanced instructional strategies at Johns Hopkins School of Education as an Adjunct Professor. Dr. Johnson is affiliated with varies educational associations and Co-Chairs the Scholarship Committee for Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated.
