Bria Duffus is a proud Hampton University alumna, graduating in 2017 with a degree in Political Science and a minor in Pre-Law. During her time at Hampton, her leadership journey began through active involvement in Student Government and the Pre-Law Honors Society. As Senior Class President, she helped lead campus initiatives and was recognized among “Who’s Who Among Colleges and Universities” for her outstanding leadership and service.
Even during her undergraduate years, Bria’s passion for mentorship and youth development was clear. She volunteered her time tutoring junior high students and mentoring peers, finding fulfillment in helping others reach their goals. After graduating from Hampton, she continued that work by founding Bsmart Girls, a mentorship organization that empowered high school girls through self-esteem workshops, college readiness training, resume writing, and one-on-one coaching. She also created and led The Internship Survival Guide, a seminar series designed to teach college students how to turn internship opportunities into full-time careers.
Bria went on to serve in several leadership and project management roles across local government agencies, where she managed a wide range of initiatives and built strong intergovernmental partnerships with community stakeholders. Her work spanned strategic planning, human resources, compliance, and operational development—each project deepening her commitment to creating efficient systems and equitable workplaces. Known for her collaborative spirit and dedication to team culture, she was often recognized for fostering environments where colleagues felt valued, motivated, and supported.
Bria later earned her Master’s in Law for Corporate Compliance from Fordham University School of Law, gaining advanced knowledge in data and privacy laws, risk management, and corporate ethics. With nearly a decade of experience managing multifaceted projects across intergovernmental relations, healthcare, human resources, compliance, budgeting, and community engagement, she has developed a versatile and service-driven professional foundation.
Her journey in public service, corporate compliance, and professional development has always been centered around people—helping them find their path, realize their potential, and thrive. Now, as Placement Director in the Center for Career Excellence at Coppin State University’s College of Business, Bria brings that same passion and purpose to her work every day. Supporting, mentoring, and coaching students isn’t new to her—it’s a calling. She is deeply committed to pouring into each student with intention and grace, ensuring they not only reach their goals but exceed them.
Humbled by the opportunity to serve at such an esteemed institution, Bria is excited to work alongside exceptional colleagues to continue building a center that transforms careers and lives—one Eagle at a time.
